Rest: The First Foundation

Why sleep is the cornerstone of health, and how Meridian factors it into every report.

Sleep isn't passive

Most people think of sleep as downtime. It's the opposite. Sleep is when your body does its most important work: repairing tissue, consolidating memory, and resetting the hormones that govern appetite, mood, and inflammation.

Cut sleep short and everything downstream suffers — your food choices, your workout recovery, your stress response, your blood sugar.

What Meridian tracks

When you log your sleep, Meridian factors it into:

  • Evening reports — a poor night's sleep changes how Apollo interprets your mood, energy, and food choices the next day.
  • Weekly digests — sleep trends over the week are correlated with your supplement stack, exercise load, and nutrition.
  • Goal scoring — if rest is one of your goals, your sleep directly moves your daily score.

What good looks like

There's no universal "right" amount of sleep, but most adults function best between 7 and 9 hours. Quality matters as much as quantity — a consistent bedtime, a dark room, and avoiding late meals and alcohol all help.

Meridian doesn't lecture. It shows you the patterns and lets you decide what to change.

Start tonight

Log your sleep for a week. Don't change anything. Just watch what Apollo says. The pattern is usually obvious before the solution is.
